Victorian Restaurant of the Year
Victorian Restaurant of the Year isn't a category that can be entered. The judges give it to the highest-scoring restaurant across all assessed categories on the night, judged independently under the National Restaurant and Catering Evaluation System. For us, it was a complete surprise.
For Kadota to be recognised at this level, competing against restaurants from across Victoria, Tasmania, and beyond, means more than we can easily put into words. We opened in Aaron's hometown of Daylesford because we believed this region deserved a dining experience of this calibre. To have that belief met with this kind of recognition is something we're still taking in.
To our whole team: this is yours. Every person in the kitchen and on the floor makes Kadota what it is each and every night.
The state wins carry Kadota through to the 2026 National Awards for Excellence in Sydney on 26 October at Doltone House Jones Bay Wharf, where we'll compete for National Restaurant of the Year against the top restaurants from every state and territory in the country. Wish us luck.
